Picnic N'Scratch Club

MIT created Scratch as an online programming community that helps young people learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively--essential skills for life in the 21st century...and it's FUN!

HPE's Picnic n'Scratch Club meets weekly on Wednesdays during recess and lunchtime. Currently, the club is for fifth graders, but fourth graders will be invited during winter semester 2017. Students are asked to bring a cold lunch to eat or make arrangements with Mrs. Edgar in the morning of a club meeting day. Students are expected to be committed to coming each week and being on time; they will be excused from the club after missing three sessions.

If you are an interested fifth or fourth grader, download an application for HPE Picnic n'Scratch club HERE. Bring it back to Mrs. Edgar completed and you'll be on your way!

After the application has been accepted, students work with Mrs. Edgar to choose their username. Parents receive an email once the account has been created. Once parents verify their child's account, students may share their work and collaborate with others online.
